Make Your Bed

Make Your Bed

Friends, we all live in a world that moves fast. In this face paced world, it's quite easy to get overwhelmed with many tasks, projects, problems and so forth. For some reason, things just pile up quickly. How many of you can relate to this? One of the best ways to begin to lessen the stress in your day is to Make Your Bed.

Making your bed establishes a sense of order and organization in your immediate environment. Its helpful to use the simple act of making your bed as a training. Make your bed in a mindful way. Smooth the sheets, fluff the pillows, tuck in the blankets and make these simple actions a preparation for your day. The habit of making your bed trains you to follow through with intention. Following through with intention will help you greatly, dealing with the many tasks and decisions you will have in your day. When you see a neatly made bed in a clean and orderly space sets a positive tone for your day.

Making your bed can enhance your productivity and discipline. You cultivate a sense of accomplishment and motivation to tackle other tasks. Its a foundational habit that will spill over into the other areas of your life, creating a domino effect of productivity and goal achievement.

The bottom line is that the simple habit of mindfully making your bed every morning gives you a WIN first thing of the day. You will want to clean and organize your entire living or/and work environment. Let's face it, spending inordinate amount of time looking over and over again for something multiple times a day is very stressful.

A messy, cluttered environment can create stress and interfere with your ability to concentrate. The actual cleaning and decluttering will boost your mood, help you move your body more, improve focus and help you feel much more in control of your environment.

Making your bed, cleaning and organizing your environment helps you make "SPACE" in your mind. This in turn helps you eliminate wasting time. You can make better decisions and you will, maybe begin to say no to taking on too much at once until you have once again the "SPACE" to manage it properly.

Remember, your outside world is a direct reflection of what is going on in your head. The reverse is also true. Your inside world is a direct reflection of what is happening on the outside.

Start small, make yourself your priority. You truly cannot help anyone else until you have helped yourself. Other things that can help you manage your stress, and breath easier are:

  1. Regular Exercise: Even a short walk or stretches release endorphins which are natural stress relievers.

  2. Set Realistic Goals: Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable goals. This can prevent overwhelm and make it easier to stay focused and productive.

  3. Establish Boundaries: Learn to say NO to additional commitments when your plate is full. This can prevent burnout.

  4. Get Enough Sleep: Now that you have a neat, cozy, clean bedroom, aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night. I advocate for absolutely, no TV, or Cellphones in bedroom. You want to create a haven of peace and tranquility to rest in.

  5. Last but certainly not least is to begin a practice of GRATITUDE. Make a daily list of what you are grateful for. It can be simple things like, the car started today, the sun came out, the air feels lovely or I don't have as much pain today.

  6. Gratitude shifts your focus away from stressors and toward productivity. Remember, reducing stress is a journey, and it's okay to experiment with different techniques to find what is right for you. ~ We Are Here for You Are you a patient?
