Who would up and decide after 30 + years as a very successful Chiropractor that he wants to go to Medical School in their 50’s? That would be my husband John.
To say I was shocked wouldn’t be completely true but the thought of making a huge U turn at this stage in life scared me. It didn’t scare John. John and I have been together since we were 17.
He was working at Milton Hospital at the time as an orderly. When he was in his early 20’s he was blown away by the care his Chiropractor gave him for an injury.
This inspired him enroll at National College of Health Sciences and earn a a BS in Human Biology then 18 months later his first Doctorate degree in Chiropractic (D.C).
Together we built a very successful 30 + year Chiropractic practice, starting in Norwell and moving to Marshfield Massachusetts in 2015.
John and I also opened South Shore Rehabilitation back in the 80’s, the first multidisciplinary rehab facility on the South Shore.
John spent a good part of 10 years part time earning his Diplomate American Board of Orthopedist (D.A.B.C.O.) as well as earning his Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from University of Bridgeport in CT.
His wonderful relationships with the greatest Primary Care Physicians , Medical Centers and local Hospitals, Neurologists, Orthopedists, Surgeons and the surrounding medical community in our area earned him countless and many times mutual referrals for some of their sickest patients.
About 25 years into his career as a Chiropractor, he was approached by a family member regarding their mother who was suffering from Neuropathy. John poured himself fully into learning everything possible on the many different forms and causes of this terribly disabling condition.
This lovely woman was suffering terribly and literally at the end of what she thought she could endure. I’m so proud to say he was able to provide her and literally hundreds of others, pain reduction and a much better quality of life. There are many components to helping these patients and its rarely one thing. His knowledge of musculoskeletal issues, nerve, general health and patient history led him to develop his NeuropathyDR® Protocol and an incredible Neurostimulator, the NDGen®.
As word spread about his NDGen® Neurostimulator and his NeuropathyDr® Protocol for addressing specific causes of Neuropathy, referrals came pouring in from physicians who didn’t know what more to do for their sickest patients.
We’ve had patients come from around the world to be treated by him in his office.
John loved what he was doing and how he was changing lives where possible but knew he had to have a broader way to help his patients.
So, just when I thought we were getting ready retire (in my head, not his ) he said “I need to go to Medical School”. My incredible husband graduated from Medical School in 2017. We moved to Easton Pennsylvania where he completed his Family & Lifestyle Medicine Residency at one of the 100 top teaching hospitals in America, St. Luke’s University Health Network and is now Board Certified in Family and Lifestyle Medicine. Oh yeah, he also completed an accelerated Osteopathic training program upon invitation while completing Residency in June 2023.
We are finally back home in our beloved Marshfield home of 30+ years (our cat Fig is especially glad to be done with the weekend back and forth trips).
